The Joy of Pie

"Any time of the day is a good time for pie."
- Fabienne, Pulp Fiction

I am not a pie connoisseur. I just like pie. Fruit or cream, fresh or frozen, plain or a la mode, I don't care. Slap a wedge of something yummy in a flaky crust in front of me, and I'm a happy man.

Just remember...

"It's the lard that makes it good!"

Can I get an IV, please?

Few people cringe when Aunt Mary serves up large slices of banana cream pie a la mode, but from a public health perspective, she might as well be offering heroin.

Let's go out to the lobby...

...And get ourselves some pie! Unfortunately, I don't know of any movie theaters that serve pie, but you can find pie in a lot of movies, especially those written by Quentin Tarantino. There are references to pie and pie eating (no, you're thinking of Bound) in Pulp Fiction and True Romance. In Natural Born Killers, a truly scary piece of key lime pie makes an appearance just before a hellacious brawl. The association between pie and violent cinema seems to be spreading to TV. South Park's Cartman likes pie, and his pal Kenny dies in every episode.

Coincidence? Hmm. Anyway, here's some sound clips.
